Educational and student development activities constitute an integral part of the university’s academic process and are aimed at fostering personal culture, scientific outlook, spirituality, and moral values among future teachers.
Departmental activities are planned in accordance with the University's annual student development and extracurricular activities plan.
At the beginning of each academic year, special attention is given to welcoming first-year students. Events dedicated to the Day of Knowledge are organized, including the traditional Student Initiation Ceremony. During the adaptation period, academic advisors support first-year students in adjusting to university life. Members of the local history club “Sayakhat” conduct introductory tours of the city of Kostanay.
Each year, graduating students organize a celebration dedicated to Teachers’ Day, during which they prepare presentations, video messages, and congratulatory performances for faculty members.
The student birdwatching club “Fifi” regularly organizes scientific and educational events for students of different years. In October, meetings for first-year students are held in honor of World Migratory Bird Day, while in April senior students participate in activities dedicated to International Bird Day.
The department also actively promotes sports and healthy lifestyles. Students participate in various sporting competitions organized at both faculty and university levels.
Students of the first through third years, together with faculty members, organize festive events dedicated to Nauryz Meyrami. These celebrations include national games and competitions, demonstrations of traditional customs, as well as musical and dance performances and theatrical presentations.
In April, the department conducts a series of events dedicated to Earth Day (April 22). These activities aim to foster appreciation for the local environment, encourage responsible attitudes toward nature, and raise public awareness of environmental issues affecting the city. Among the initiatives are the “March of Parks” environmental campaign, community clean-up events, and other ecological projects.
As part of the celebrations of Biologist’s Day and Chemist’s Day, the department organizes field trips to the University’s educational and research field station located in the Arakaragai Forestry Area of Altynsarin District, where students participate in practical and educational activities in a natural environment.
