The department was established in 1968 under the name Department of Sports Disciplines. Today, it is known as the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Culture and Sports.

  • Honored Worker of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Many faculty members have been awarded state honors such as:
  • For Merits in the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • For Merits in the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Badge of Honor of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Diplomas from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Akimat of Kostanay Region.
Collaboration:

The department actively cooperates with the Regional Center for Physical Culture and the Olympic Training Center on the development of physical culture and sports in the Kostanay region, as well as on teacher and coach training. In tourism education, close ties are maintained with leading tourism companies in Kostanay region and across the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Main directions of educational work:

  • Supporting the professional development of future specialists;
  • Raising legal awareness;
  • Developing Kazakhstani patriotism;
  • Promoting creativity and teamwork among students.
Priority scientific research areas:
  • Improvement of physical education and sports training of student youth;
  • Innovative technologies for the development of the tourism industry.

Over the past years, more than 100 scientific articles, conference abstracts, and methodological recommendations have been published. Based on research in this field, a doctoral dissertation was defended in 2009: “Management of the Training of Highly Qualified Weightlifters on the Basis of Comprehensive Control of Training Activities” (Sivokhin I.P.).
