The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Special Education was reorganized in September 2023 and is a structural unit of the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute of the Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynuly.
The purpose of the department is to improve the quality of educational services, to provide professional training for future teachers based on advanced educational standards in accordance with the Graduate Model.
Currently, the department trains graduates in the educational programs of the bachelor's degree 6B01902-Special Pedagogy, 6B01101-Pedagogy and Psychology and the master's degree 7M01101- Pedagogy and Psychology.
The department performs educational, scientific and methodological functions, as well as provides psychological and pedagogical support for a number of innovative processes at the university. The scientific and methodological potential of the department allows us to achieve positive results and prospects for self-improvement.
The scientific and methodological theme of the department is "Formats and technologies of psychological and pedagogical support of subjects of the educational process in a modern school", which is reflected in the individual work plans of the teaching staff of the department. The staff of the department allows us to productively solve problems in the main areas of activity of the pedagogical Institute.
Teachers take an active part in all initiatives related to the transformation of the 12-year education system in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the introduction of the program "RukhaniZhangyru" — "100 new books", working closely with the branch "Center for Pedagogical Excellence" of AEO NIS, the Department of Education of the region, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Special Education maintains creative ties with a number of regional, republican, Russian scientific institutions and universities: Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), South Ural State UniversityUral State University of Humanities and Pedagogy (Chelyabinsk), Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, State University of Humanities and Technology (Moscow Region), Trenchinsky University named after Dubcek (Slovakia).
As part of the professional development of teaching staff, teachers of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Special Education are trained both within the country and abroad. Teachers carry out professional development by attending seminars of invited scientists from abroad and other organizations. The staff of the department continued to work on the preparation and publication of articles in journals with a high impact factor.
The department has scientific problem groups, the international scientific and practical conference "Altynsarin Readings" is held annually, with the participation of practical teachers and teachers-psychologists, social workers, annually students and undergraduates take part in republican subject Olympiads in the field of psychology and pedagogy. A scientific student conference "Pedagogy and psychology: the view of student youth" is organized especially for students in the direction 6B011-Pedagogical Sciences.
In order to ensure the integration of education, science and production, experienced specialists working in the system of special educational organizations and institutions of Kostanay and Kostanay region are attracted to the department to conduct practical classes, workshops, guidance of pedagogical and industrial practice.
The material support of the department allows conducting scientific and methodological work at the proper level. Students and undergraduates have specially equipped classrooms and laboratories at their disposal:
- Y. Altynsarin Methodical room for pedagogy and computer-methodical room for psychology, where modern special literature is collected with a book collection of more than three thousand copies of educational and scientific-methodical literature and scientific periodicals;
- The laboratory of computer psychological and pedagogical diagnostics has special equipment that contributes to the formation of necessary research and practical skills, computer diagnostic programs;
- The office of practical psychology and pedagogy is designed for conducting sessions of individual socio-pedagogical and psychological counseling, psychotherapy, psychological and pedagogical correction, as well as psychoprophylactic sessions, the equipment allows using the method of complex audiovisual stimulation;
- The laboratory of sensory-dynamic development is a developing space saturated with various elements of an auditory, visual, tactile and dynamic nature. On the basis of the laboratory, the psychological practice of future educational psychologists in psychotherapy, social adaptation and sensory integration of children and adolescents is being improved.
The laboratory includes a sensory relaxation room, psychoemotional relaxation, which allows students to master psychological techniques for freeing themselves from fears, correcting neurotic states and behavior, recovering from active activities, switching from activity to calming, switching between blocks of classes.
The activity of the laboratory is aimed at scientific and methodological support of the educational process of students, undergraduates of the educational program "Pedagogy and Psychology".
- The laboratory of psychological relief and art therapy is equipped with the necessary tools to relieve psychological tension and stress, restore human emotional balance and is designed to conduct training sessions on the Art Therapy training course for students enrolled in the educational program 6B01101 Pedagogy and Psychology, as well as conducting art therapy sessions to activate human mental activity. Human creative activity is used here as methods of psychological relief.
The art therapy room is designed both for the independent work of the group members and for their interaction at the stage of discussing the products of visual activity.
- The laboratory of "Special and inclusive Education" is equipped for conducting educational and research activities of students of the educational program "Special Pedagogy". The main task of the laboratory is the formation of professional and research competencies among students-future special teachers using IT technologies, and, also, it is practice-oriented and has a pronounced applied character.
The laboratory is equipped with specialized equipment that will allow future special educators to master professional skills in working with different categories of people with disabilities in inclusion and in special institutions. The specialized equipment includes a variety of educational software: the educational system "EduQuest", the didactic system "Numicon" and specialized speech therapy equipment.
The presented laboratories are included in the activities of the center for pedagogical innovations and solve the tasks of organizing practice-oriented training of special teachers, educational psychologists.
The Volunteer club "Kind Heart" is actively functioning at the department — it is a large team of volunteers from among students of 1-3 courses. The main direction of the club's work is practice-oriented and directly related to the future profession, which is of great practical importance.
