The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education was reorganized in September 2023 and is a structural unit of the Pedagogical Institute named after U. Sultangazin of the Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynuly.
The department's goal is to improve the quality of educational services, ensure the professional training of future teachers based on advanced education standards in accordance with the Graduate Profile Model.
Currently, the department prepares graduates in bachelor's programs 6B01902-Special Education, 6B01101-Pedagogy and Psychology, and master's program 7M01101-Pedagogy and Psychology.
The department performs educational and scientific-methodical functions and also provides psychological and pedagogical support for a number of innovative processes in the university. The scientific and methodical potential of the department allows achieving positive results and prospects for self-improvement.
The scientific and methodical theme of the department is "Formats and technologies of psychological and pedagogical support for subjects of the educational process in modern schools," which is reflected in the individual work plans of the teaching staff of the department. The department's staff enables productive solutions to tasks in the main directions of the pedagogical institute's activities.
Teachers actively participate in all initiatives related to the transformation of the 12-year education system in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the implementation of the "Ruhani Zhangyru" program - "100 New Books," closely collaborating with the branch "Center for Pedagogical Excellence" of NIS AEO, the Education Department of the region, and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education maintains creative ties with a number of regional, republican, and Russian scientific institutions and universities: Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Moscow State University named after M. Lomonosov, South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk), South Ural State Humanitarian-Pedagogical University (Chelyabinsk), Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, State Humanities and Technological University (Moscow region), Dubcek University of Trencin (Slovakia).
As part of professional development, faculty members of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education undergo training both within the country and abroad. Teachers enhance their qualifications by attending seminars conducted by invited scholars from abroad and other organizations. The department's staff continues to work on preparing and publishing articles in journals with a high impact factor.
The department operates scientific problem groups, annually holds the international scientific-practical conference "Altynsarin Readings," with the participation of practical teachers and teacher-psychologists, social workers. Every year, students and master's students participate in republican subject Olympiads in the field of psychology and pedagogy. A scientific student conference "Pedagogy and Psychology: the view of student youth" is organized specifically for students majoring in 6B011-Pedagogical Sciences.
To ensure the integration of education, science, and industry for conducting practical classes, workshops, and guidance for pedagogical and industrial practice, experienced specialists working in the system of special general educational organizations and institutions of the city of Kostanay and the Kostanay region are involved in the department.
The Department actively operates the Volunteer Club "Good Heart" - this is a large team of volunteers from among the students of the 1st-3rd courses. The main direction of the club's work is practice-oriented and directly related to the future profession, which has great practical significance.
